A talent concern with excellent letterhead

Central Casting Company places theatrical talent in productions of record, rumor, and everything between. We staff pageantry: the debate, the diner, the weather as a mood, the extra who points at nothing. We do not elect anyone. We do not run the sky. We do not employ unknown primates, though we have employed several very patient engineers.

Managing Partner

Currently: an empty chair with a good coat. Correspondence may be left with the front desk, which does not exist.

A short history we can print

  1. 1947

    A ranch, a balloon, a misunderstanding

The firm is founded after an extra is paid twice for the same afternoon and nobody can agree what the afternoon contained. The extra keeps both checks. We keep the extra.

  2. 1969

    Gray dust, excellent catering

A production involving boots, flags, and lighting that would shame a cathedral. Some of the principals really went. Some of the lights really lit. The commissary still frames the boots.

  3. 1976

    The terms remain unread

The Terms of Service Reader is posted. It is still posted. Accounting refuses to take it off the board because the chart would look dishonest.

  4. 1995

    A very large carpet

Airport statuary, a mural, a rumor. Architecture takes the credit. We take lunch.

  5. 2012

    Wrap party, calendar division

The world does not end. The cheese does. A clean wrap, and a lesson about catering deposits.

  6. Present

The waiting room has a website

Civic theater, consumer mythology, and a placement rate we will defend in a footnote. The chairs face a wall. The wall is doing fine.

What we will not staff

  • Anything that treats real harm to real people as a set
  • Impersonation of public officials as fact rather than theater
  • Criminal activity, fraud, or the collection of secrets
  • The other waiting room. It does not have a website. Do not look for it here.

We are not affiliated with Central Casting, the Hollywood extra service; with any government or party; or with any lodge, saucer club, or cafeteria that serves better pie than ours. Ours does not exist. The pie is a rumor we did not book.
